Before booking please take the time to read through the following, as it contains important information about your trip.
Booking and Payment
Out of the busier times, we do usually have some availability on the day however we strongly recommend that trips are booked in advance online to secure your most preferred time and date. Please be aware that in peak season, we are often fully booked up to 2 or 3 days in advance. When booking online or by phone, full payment will be taken at the time of booking.
Tickets are non transferable and are valid only for the date and time of the ticket, unless within the cancellation period (see below).
A mobile phone number and email address must be provided at the time of booking so that we can attempt to contact passengers regarding delays or cancellations.
We would advise passengers to check for texts and emails on the day of the trip or to call us on before setting out, for an update on the forecast if there is any doubt. We aim to provide notice of cancellation due to adverse weather or sea conditions at least 24 hours in advance however due to the ever changing sea conditions on the North coast, trips can be cancelled on the same day. This is rare and we try to avoid this as a rule but there are just some days, it happens.
Restrictions
Passengers must be agile enough to board our vessels unaided and be able to negotiate harbour steps with use of a hand rail.
At low water, passengers will be required to board a smaller vessel to be transferred to the Seahorse. We are happy to fully explain this if you have any questions or concerns and welcome calls to discuss. Should low water transfer be an issue, we can advise alternative trip times when boarding is straight onto Seahorse at the pier via steps.
Very occasionally, and on particular tides only, our small transfer boat will embark from the beach. This can mean wet feet! Again, we aim to provide notice of this and advise you to bring a small towel or some flip flops to wear. Please do call us if this is a concern and be assured that we do not run trips where we embark on the beach outside of Summer months unless by prior agreement with passengers.
Unfortunately, due to loading conditions, we are unable to accommodate wheelchair users who cannot manage steps.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Babies 12 months and under do not require a ticket and do not count in the max capacity of the boat. Please just bring them along – ideally in a carrier or sling.
Well behaved dogs are welcome aboard for no charge.
Embarkation
Passengers MUST arrive at the correct location (see map pin below) at least 30 minutes prior to departure time. If there are problems making this time, please call us and we will do our best to help. We really do highlight that if we don’t know, we can’t help so please give us a call with as much notice as possible that you will be late or miss the trip. We always try to resell tickets to enable you to either go on a later trip or receive a refund BUT if we are given too short notice or fail to resell the tickets, no refunds will be provided. In any case, refunds will not be issued to any passenger who fails to board on time and misses the boat in any other circumstances.
Minimum passenger numbers of 6 per trip apply (excluding private charters). We reserve the right to cancel any sailing if minimum numbers are not achieved but will do our best to transfer you to another vessel departing at a similar time or refund your ticket.
Life jackets are provided.
We are not responsible for passengers personal belongings whilst aboard. Any items left aboard, will be kept by us if found and we will contact you via the mobile/email provided.
The Seahorse skipper has the right to refuse embarkation of any passenger for any reason and their decision is final.
Departure and Facilities
Passengers must pay attention and follow all safety instructions and announcements from the skipper and crew. Any passenger causing a disturbance or posing a safety risk will be taken ashore.
There is a toilet onboard Seahorse.
Refreshments are not supplied but passengers may bring their own. No alcohol is permitted unless on private charters.
Cancellations
We reserve the right to cancel or alter the times of trips without notice. This is occasionally unavoidable due to changeable weather and sea conditions.
If we need to cancel a trip for any reason, passengers will be given the option to rebook for another time/day or to receive a full refund.
Please check carefully for texts and emails on day of departure.
Passenger Cancellation Terms
Passengers wishing to cancel their trip must provide a full 48 hours notice.
Passengers wishing to change the time and date of their trip must provide a full 24 hours notice.
For any of the above reasons if contact needs to be made, please call 07940 255960.
